WellFlorida News Release

The public is invited to attend a “Lunch and Learn” on a cancer-related topic and hear a summary on the status of cancer in North Central Florida on Oct. 19 at Health Street, 2401 SW Archer Road in Gainesville.

Cancer Connections and WellFlorida Council’s North Central Florida Cancer Control Collaborative (NCFCCC) are teaming up to host a “Lunch and Learn” on the topic “Triple Negative Breast Cancer” with guest speaker Dr. Tina Lam. The event includes a free, healthful lunch and one CEU to eligible participants. After the lunch, NCFCCC will follow up with a summary of the soon-to-be-released North Central Florida Cancer Report 2016 and a strategic planning session. Below is an agenda for the afternoon events:

12-1 p.m.: Lunch and Learn
1:30-2:30 p.m.: Cancer Report Release
2:30-3:30 p.m.: Strategic Planning for NCFCCC

The report, produced by WellFlorida Council for NCFCCC, includes a wide range of cancer data such as cancer death rates, cancer incidence rates, cancer related emergency room visits and hospital discharge data. This epidemiologic profile of 11 counties in North Central Florida highlights disparities between the region and Florida as well as disparities between genders, races, ethnicities and counties. Copies of the report can be downloaded from www.WellFlorida.org beginning Oct. 19.

To RSVP for the “Lunch and Learn” please email mponder@www.wellflorida.org.

One of Florida’s five regional Cancer Control Collaboratives, NCFCCC’s purpose is to improve access to cancer care and reduce the burden of cancer in North Central Florida. To learn more about NCFCCC, please contact visit www.ncfcancercontrol.org.
