Summary
The Senior Planner serves as the program coordinator for Power Up and works directly with agency partners, youth, and parents. Power Up is a youth-focused intervention in Columbia County. Power Up is an innovative program focusing on enhancing mental well-being for Columbia County youth through two program components: (1) Power Up League is a recreational initiative for youth ages 12 – 18 offering a safe, competitive Esports platform while integrating evidence-based Botvin LifeSkills during weekly practices and games. (2) Power Up Teens utilizes Teen Mental Health First Aid, an evidence-based model, to educate teens on identifying, understanding, and responding to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among peers.

PUBLIC HEALTH INTERNSHIP
The Public Health Internship is coordinated with the University of Florida for students on track to complete a Master of Public Health degree. Internships are focused on one or more of the core competencies of public health and the students’ area of concentration. Interested students may contact the following programs for openings:
HIGH IMPACT PREVENTION PRACTICUM
The High Impact Prevention (HIP) project collaborates with Dr. Laura Guyer’s Practicum in Health Disparities course at the University of Florida to provide students with on-the-field experience and skills. In this practicum, students plan and execute testing events, administer HIV tests to individuals in the community, provide outreach and education, deliver materials to Business Responds to AIDs partners, and more across North Central Florida.
Each student is required to schedule an interview and attend orientation. After the orientation, the student will need to complete the HIV 501 Live course at the Department of Health.
The goal for this practicum site is for each student to leave with professional and personal growth that will help with their future endeavors.
