CommunityHealth IT to bring up to 2.2 million patients’ records onto the Florida HIE via RelayHealth
TALLAHASSEE, Fla.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–June 18, 2013–The Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA), the sponsoring agency for the Florida Health Information Exchange (HIE), welcomed the not-for-profit CommunityHealth IT into the Florida HIE. CommunityHealth IT connects community healthcare providers and patients through its MyHealthStory(TM) HIE, which leverages RelayHealth to expand access and the reliability of data across varied care settings.
Developed by CommunityHealth IT and powered by RelayHealth, MyHealthStory(TM) is a secure personal health record for patients and an integrated longitudinal medical record with robust HIE tools for healthcare providers, practices and institutions. CommunityHealth IT also provides a number of resources for rural healthcare providers, including financial resources to assist them with connecting to the Florida HIE. Healthcare providers on RelayHealth’s enterprise HIE platform can gain cost-effective access to the Florida HIE through CommunityHealth IT.
“Joining the Florida HIE will help CommunityHealth IT continue to bridge the rural-urban divide and facilitate the exchange of information among all providers in Florida,” said Kendra Siler-Marsiglio, PhD, president, CommunityHealth IT. “With RelayHealth’s vendor-neutral HIE platform, providers on MyHealthStory(TM) can cost-effectively meet Stage 2 Meaningful Use requirements while having statewide exchange capabilities.”
MyHealthStory(TM) supports provider access to the local exchange for healthcare information sharing and secure messaging between providers, patients, and other members of the patient’s care team. RelayHealth’s patient-centric approach helps ensure that providers can integrate any federally-certified electronic health record with MyHealthStory(TM), enhancing the clinical benefits of the HIE for healthcare providers and patients.
“We’ve been a partner with CommunityHealth IT for more than a year, and they’ve made great strides enabling HIE access for rural healthcare providers with MyHealthStory,” said Jeff Felton, president, RelayHealth. “Membership in the Florida HIE will further help both providers and patients realize the benefits of access to a state HIE, including right-time, right-place, right-patient access to secure patient records.”
CommunityHealth IT is endorsed by Enterprise Florida, the State of Florida’s business development arm. The National Health Information Sharing & Analysis Center–established by Presidential Directive to help protect the cybersecurity and security of the nation’s healthcare delivery systems–provides the Information Security and Privacy Officer for MyHealthStory(TM) statewide exchange.
