LSF Health has recently announced that the Criminal Justice, Mental Health and Substance Abuse (CJMHSA) Reinvestment grant application submitted on behalf of Hernando County has been awarded. The planning grant focuses on the needs of adults with mental health, substance abuse or co-occurring disorders who are at risk of, or are involved with, the criminal justice system.

The primary goal of the grants is to assess and plan for initiatives that increase public safety, avert increased spending on criminal justice system, and improve the accessibility and effectiveness of treatment services for adults who have a mental illness, substance abuse disorders, or co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders, who are in, or at risk of entering, the criminal justice system.

WellFlorida Council has been contracted to produce the Criminal Justice and Behavioral Health Needs Assessment for the grant.

This is a one-year grant, funded by the Department of Children and Families, which begins January 1, 2017.
